MASA Group is proud to announce the release of SWORD v4.1, the latest version of its flagship constructive simulation for training Army and Security officers.

PARIS, FRANCE (June 17th, 2010) — MASA Group is proud to announce the release of SWORD v4.1, the latest version of its flagship constructive simulation for training Army and Security officers. SWORD is a light and portable simulation-based training solution for decision makers. It allows immersing them in modern battle environments to hone their tactical knowledge and to rehearse their techniques and procedures.

Key improvements in SWORD v4.1 are located in the following areas:

• Geographic data support: SWORD now provides support for the raster data format ASRP, elevation data format DTED 2 and vector data format VMAP 2(i). As a result, the resolution of the elevation grid is increased from 100m to 30m, and the fidelity of urban terrains is considerably improved. In addition, the new interface allows the direct mapping of shapefiles : whatever your data model is, you can import your terrains in Sword !

• MASA Life Brain: Sword fully supports the last evolution of MASA's artificial intelligence modeling technology, MASA Life Brain.Thanks to its LUA based scripting langage and its high-level modeling paradigms, MASA Life Brain appreciably enhances the accessibility of behavior modeling, allowing laymen as well as experts to customize their doctrine
  

• Communication model: In modern conflicts, communication management is key. In Sword, intelligent agents automatically communicate to share their perception of the world and coordinate their actions. This communication can now be tampered with, adding delays or even radio silence due to electronic warfare
• Urban blocks: Urban terrains can now be enhanced with urban blocks. These blocks are used to represent uniform sets of buildings with an unique object that units can interact with. A role can be affected to a block, defining how the block can intervene in the simulation. For instance a hospital can be used to provide logistic health support to units and populations, while a power plant can produce and distribute power through resource networks
  

SWORD is a constantly evolving product. Future versions will include automatic evolution of the human factors,  Linux support, HLA 15.16 evolved and many other improvements. Keep in touch!
