Industry-leading Organizations Including Amper Programas, NATO, Saab and Systematic Leverage MASA SWORD Interoperability in C2 Systems
ORLANDO, FL., November 28, 2011 — At this year's I/ITSEC, on booth (#1815), MASA Group (“MASA”), a leading developer of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Modeling & Simulation (M&S) software for the defense, homeland security, emergency management and serious games markets, is announcing new interoperability features for MASA SWORD, the Company’s flagship automated, aggregated constructive simulation software.
Designed to help develop and deploy complex and highly realistic training scenarios and analysis for commanding officers and crisis managers, the latest version of SWORD features a highly adaptable and open design to facilitate its integration into existing simulations. SWORD's new features allow Command & Control (C2) and other communications systems to take advantage of the latest technologies in the simulation industry – such as true high-level aggregation and automation powered by cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) – while still making the most out of their current operational systems.
SWORD's new integration features enable a tight connection between the C2 and simulation systems through an implementation of Battle Management Language (BML) and Military Scenario Definition Language (MSDL) exchanges. Because SWORD is designed for easy integration out of the box, users can leverage its ability to interoperate with both simulation and information systems, requiring very little need for customization. This is especially important when clients are looking to create highly integrated training scenarios that can leverage C2 systems, as well as to operationally develop decision-support and doctrine testing activities.
Already, a number of leading defense organizations around the world, including Amper Programas, NATO and Saab are using SWORD's new interoperability capabilities to enhance the functionality of their existing training systems and legacy computer-generated forces/semi-automated forces (CGF/SAF) software:
"The integration of MASA SWORD into our C2 system represents an important addition to our broad range of capabilities," said D. Juan Manuel Castro, Business Development Manager at Amper Programas.
Visitors to the MASA booth will be able to see a demonstration of a state-of the-art 'C2 classroom' jointly developed by MASA and its newest technology partner, Systematic, a leading developer of scalable software products, services and projects for defense forces, security organizations and systems integrators. By integrating SWORD's advanced simulation capabilities with Systematic’s SitaWare C2 software, the 'C2 classroom' allows military, national security/crisis and emergency management users to develop course of action analyses, war gaming, and realistic simulations to “train like they work”.
On the Saab booth (# 2139), visitors will see the integration of MASA SWORD with Saab’s Scemanta, 9Land BMS, and Systematic’s SitaWare HQ, using Saab’s Widely Integrated Systems Environment (WISE). This demonstration leverages both C2 and doctrinal based simulation systems in a training environment to increase readiness.
"By integrating SWORD into our C2 training solution, we have been able to create a product that fulfills our customers' expectations better than ever," comments Henrik Höjer general Manager Training and Simulation at Saab.
Visitors to the NATO booth (#723) can see how SWORD is being seamlessly integrated within two C2 systems: the French Army’s command information system (SICF) and Systematic’s SitaWare battle management software.
The latest version of SWORD also features a new service-oriented architecture (SOA), designed to make cutting-edge cloud-based simulations a reality today. On MASA's booth, visitors will be able to see an extensive demo of a cloud-based simulation that leverages technologies from MASA, 4C Strategies, BAE Systems C-ITS, Google (Google Earth), Pitch Technologies, and Systematic. Based on the same architecture that was used for Sweden’s VIKING 11 Command Post/Computer Assisted Exercise in April 2011, this demonstration highlights the capabilities of “High-Level Architecture (HLA 15.16 Evolved) in the Cloud” for solving the challenges of massive, distributed ‘large command post’ exercises.
