PARIS, FRANCE (October 20th, 2010) — MASA Group is proud to announce the release of MASA Sword v4.2, the latest version of its flagship constructive simulation product for training Army and Security officers. MASA Sword is a light and portable simulation-based training solution for decision makers. It allows immersing them in modern battle environments to hone their tactical knowledge and to rehearse their techniques and procedures.
Key improvements in MASA Sword v4.2 include:
Urban blocks enhancement - Populations: Urban terrains can be enhanced with urban blocks, used to represent uniform sets of buildings. Populations can now be created as an uniform set of individuals that move around the city depending on their motivations: work, rest, leasure, evacuate... These motivations can be triggered by predefined schedules as well as events, like a disaster or the action of a police unit.
Urban blocks enhancement - Resource networks: In addition to roles that define how the block can intervene in the simulation, resource networks can be created to add a new dimension to logistic simulation. Urban blocks, objects, units or populations can be set as producer, supplier or consumer of resources with a physical network that can be destroyed, disabled or defended by simulation units. Without the proper supply of vital resources a hospital won't be able to provide health care and the attitude of a population will change - eventually leading to manifestation or health issues, even military units that lose movement and fighting capabilities.
Wildfire: Wildfires are now part of the disaster models available in MASA Sword. Wildfires are destructive objects that can propagate depending on the wind and the type of terrain. Simulation units, like firetrucks, can intervene on wildfires by extinguishing, containing or controlling them while fires can damage buildings and cause attrition to units, populations, or permanently change the terrain.
Flood: In addition to wildfire, flood models are now available. From a source point, the flood is computed depending on the terrain relief, the strength of the flood and and the distance from the source point. Simulation units can interact with floods, using dikes, pumps or sand walls, while floods can damage buildings and cause attrition to units and populations.
MASA Sword is a constantly evolving product. Future versions will include automatic evolution of the human factors, 64-bit optimisation, Linux support, HLA 15.16 evolved and many other improvements.
